Dezhou Braised Chicken

Dezhou Braised Chicken, also known as “Dezhou Five-Fragrant Boneless Braised Chicken”, is a traditional dish from Dezhou, Shandong Province, which developed over hundreds of years. It used to be Shandong’s tribute for the imperial family. It is famous for its tenderness and taste and is liked by people in China and abroad.

In the 1950s, Song Ching-Ling, Vice President of China, stopped at Dezhou when traveling back from Shanghai for some braised chicken and brought it to Beijing for Chairman Mao.  This made Dezhou Braised Chicken famous throughout China.
