Three Lanes and Seven Alleys

Three Lanes and Seven Alleys are located in downtown Fuzhou. The name is an approximation of the 10 lanes and alleys from north to south beside Nanhou Street. It is one of the 10 top historic and cultural streets in China. The three lanes are Yijin Lane, Wenru Lane and Guanglu Lane. The seven alleys are Yangqiao Alley, Langguan Alley, Anmin Alley, Huangxiang Alley, Taxiang Alley, Gongxiang Alley, and Jibi Alley.

In this neighborhood, the lanes and alleys cross and join together. The roads are paved with slate. The layout of the lanes and alleys are well planned and delicate. This is where culture and nature merge as one, with pavilions, terraces, towers, buildings, trees and flowers and rockeries decorating the lanes and alleys. They fully demonstrate the craftsmanship and characters of residences in Fuzhou Old Town. Therefore, it is called a large scale museum of Ming and Qing dynasty architecture by the architecture community.
