Jilin province, abbreviated to "Ji" in Chinese, lies in the central part of Northeast China covering an area of 187,400 square kilometers, which is 1.95% of the country's total area. The name Jilin comes from Jilin Wula, a city established in the early Qing Dynasty. The province has unique folk customs and rich tourist resources, consists of one sub-provincial municipality, seven prefecture-level cities, the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture and the Changbai Mountains Management Committee.
The diverse natural wonders and extraordinary cultural sights make this "black earth" an enchanting tourist destination. Visitors can sail on Songhua Lake, visit Heaven Lake in the Changbai Mountains, enjoy amazing sceneries and watch rosefinches in primeval forests, amongst many of the must-do activities Jilin has to offer.
