If you're looking for a destination awash in the colors of summer, set your course for Puzhehei Scenic Area in Yunnan. From June to August each year, the lake is carpeted with lotuses in full bloom. As far as the eye can see, emerald leaves stretch into an unbroken expanse, while pink and white blossoms emerge throughout the scene-some still in bud, others in full bloom. This is no painting; it is summer here, alive and breathing.

The greatest joy is boarding a wooden boat and drifting slowly through the sea of lotus flowers. Blossoms brush within reach of your fingertips, waterbirds glide past, dragonflies settle on delicate petals, and each passing breeze carries the fragrance of lotus blossoms.
