Autumn in Moerdaoga is best seen slowly, from a train window.

Moerdaoga National Forest Park is the largest forest park in China, and it preserves the Greater Khingan Range's most pristine autumn scenery. From mid-to-late September, birches and larches turn from green to gold and crimson almost overnight, the forest sea washing over the mountains in layer upon layer of color. And the forest mini-train that threads through it all is the most comfortable way to take it in.
The carriages are painted with forest and fairy-tale motifs—parked among the trees, the train itself becomes a moving photo spot.

Four Stations, Four Scenes
Riding the forest sightseeing train slowly through dense woods and valleys, the 9.87-kilometer loop takes about one hour and forty minutes, with four stations—each with its own view.
▪️ Mongolian Pine Forest Station
A romantic stop for the energetic. Climb the wooden boardwalk to the summit, and the vast Mongolian pine forest spreads out below your feet—the sigh of the pines is more soothing than any white noise.
▪️ Garden Forest Sea Station
A place to slow down. There are forest cabins, swings, and other leisure facilities—a good spot for a rest.
▪️ Forest Streamside Station
A photographer's paradise. Right beside a clear forest stream, a suspension bridge spans the water, golden birches reflected in the stream—the woodland atmosphere is at its peak, and the soft autumn light makes for gorgeous photos.
▪️ Forest Ranch Station
The transition zone between forest and grassland. You can feed reindeer and lambs here—a nice stop for animal lovers.
Beyond the train, autumn in Moerdaoga is also the season to head into the mountains and gather pine cones, mushrooms, and wild cranberries—flavors of the wild that only the Greater Khingan Range offers in autumn.

The whistle sounds, and gold fills the window. Crimson and golden canopies sweep past on both sides, sunlight spilling through the branches into the carriage—the whole journey feels like a love letter to autumn.

With time to spare, you can also visit the White Deer Island, just beyond the train loop. Reindeer roam free there, and the clear blue Jiliu River flows past banks lined with golden forest.
As the last gold slips past the window, this autumn will stay with you.
