Autumn in the Greater Khingan Range is never a single shade of gold—it is made up of yellow, green, blue-green, purple, red, blue, orange, and more. As you drive along the forest roads, birches, larches, and Mongolian pines take turns outside your window, and the color changes with every bend, as if the mountain's palette had been overturned, spilling color across the ground.

Shitanglin Forest

This is a volcanic lava landscape, with dark basalt covered in thick moss and dwarf pines. Around ten in the morning, slanting light filters through the trees, bringing the textures on the lava surface into sharp relief.

Blue House

On the road from the Unfrozen River to Wusu Langzi Lake, you'll come across a small blue house tucked among the pines. Blue sky, green grass, an old wooden cabin—the scene feels like something out of a storybook.

Haosengou National Forest Park

Every autumn, Haosengou National Forest Park is washed in gold, crimson, and orange across its hills and valleys. It is home to pristine landscapes such as Qilin Peak, Diwang Peak, Tianhe Canyon, Guanyin Cave, and Xiari Bingyu, offering distinctive Greater Khingan Range scenery.

Meigui Peak

This is a rugged landscape unlike the forests and lakes—it is made up of more than ten reddish-brown granite peaks. Sunrise or sunset is the best time to visit, when the light deepens the color of the reddish-brown rock.

Arxan National Tourist Resort

Arxan has the earliest autumn in China. Here, Camel Peak Tianchi Lake is clear and serene, the Santan Gorge streams murmur, and the autumn forests glow with color—a must-visit destination for anyone chasing autumn in China.

From Shitanglin Forest to Meigui Peak, from the quiet Tianchi Lake to the blue house in the woods, the autumn colors of the Greater Khingan Range unfold layer by layer. Keep this list. Pick an autumn day, get on the road, and take it all in.
