"Lotus in the Breeze" Cold-Drink Set

The "Lotus in the Breeze" Cold-Drink Set is a modern tribute to a representative work of Qing-dynasty porcelain craftsmanship—the Famille Rose Lotus-Shaped Cup with Green Interior from the Qianlong Reign. Drawing on the artifact's famille rose palette, the cup uses frosted glass to recreate the form of a lotus blossom, while the saucer is rendered in lotus-leaf green, together evoking the sight of a lotus in full bloom.

Design Inspiration: Famille Rose Lotus-Shaped Cup with Green Interior, Qianlong reign, Qing dynasty

This flower-shaped cup resembles a lotus blossom just beginning to unfurl. A lotus leaf adorns one side, while its stem extends beneath the cup to ingeniously form the foot, giving the piece a natural sense of vitality and movement. The delicate, luminous famille rose enamels display nuanced gradations of color. The veining of the petals and leaf, along with the tiny prickles on the stem, is rendered in crisp detail, making the design even more lifelike. Closely modeled on a natural lotus in both form and color, the cup attests to the highly developed ceramic craftsmanship of the period.

Highlight

The color palette of this cup-and-saucer set is inspired by famille rose porcelain. The cup is suffused with the soft pink hues of a lotus blossom, while the saucer takes its blue-green color from a lotus leaf. Complementing each other, the two pieces form a lifelike lotus-and-leaf composition imbued with understated Chinese elegance. The set has a semi-translucent frosted finish that feels silky smooth to the touch. Filled with a cold drink, it creates the sensation—both tactile and visual—of holding the refreshing coolness of an entire summer lotus pond in your hands. Practical and versatile, the set is a visual delight whether purchased for personal use or given as a gift.
