First Stop:240-Hour Visa-Free Entry & Smart Clearance

Citizens of 54 eligible countries can now enjoy visa-free entry through Shanghai Pudong International Airport and the Shanghai Seaport (Passenger Terminal) for up to 240 hours (10 days), with the freedom to travel across 24 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities.

Foreign nationals may fill in the relevant entry information online before coming to China through the official website and government service platform of the National Immigration Administration (NIA), the “NIA 12367” app and WeChat/Alipay mini program, or by scanning the QR code via mobile phone. Travelers who are unable to complete the form online may, upon arrival, scan a QR code with their mobile phone, or use on-site smart devices to submit their information electronically, or complete a paper arrival card.

At Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, 24 dedicated lanes, including 15 inbound lanes, help ensure efficient processing. Digital displays alternate between "Smart Clearance" and "Express Lane" signage, while adjacent manual channels provide assistance for travelers who need it.

All-Access Pass: Introducing the "Great World Shanghai Pass"

The "Great World Shanghai Pass" has officially launched worldwide. Cardholders enjoy:

Unlimited Sightseeing: Forty-eight-hour hop-on, hop-off access to double-decker bus routes serving The Bund, Nanjing Road, and the Oriental Pearl Tower.

Huangpu River Cruises: Unobstructed views of Shanghai's iconic skyline.

Cultural Experiences: Admission to Yuyuan Garden and the historic Great World venue, featuring intangible cultural heritage acrobatic performances and curated dining experiences at time-honored local brands.

The pass is available at dedicated service counters in both Pudong and Hongqiao airports, where visitors can activate, top up, and refund their cards. In addition, 25 offline service points across the city, including metro stations, offer top-up services.

Effortless tax refunds: With more than 2,100 duty-free shops citywide, spanning luxury malls, airports, scenic attractions, hotels, and even event venues such as music festivals and the F1 circuit, Shanghai offers exceptional convenience. The city has fully implemented "Pre-packaged & Scannable" (barcode) systems and self-service kiosks. Notably, West Nanjing Road in Jing'an District features a "5-Minute Tax Refund Circle."
