In Yunnan, known as the "Kingdom of Wild Mushrooms," fresh mushrooms of every variety can be found throughout its food markets. Matsutake, termite mushrooms, porcini, blue-staining boletes... 1. Rice noodles with tofu pudding
Kunming's distinctive thick, fermented rice noodles are served with tofu pudding, preserved vegetables, chives, crushed peanuts, and other condiments. Sweet, spicy, and smooth, they offer an authentic taste of Kunming in a single bite.

2. Sweet rice wine
Sweet rice wine is a specialty beverage from Yunnan and a type of fermented glutinous rice. Sweet and mellow, it blends rich wine and rice aromas. It can be eaten as is or used to make desserts.

3. Grilled erkuai
Erkuai is made from rice and has a soft, glutinous texture. Grilled over charcoal, it is stuffed with side ingredients including fried dough sticks, pickled vegetables and peanuts, and then brushed with your preferred sauce.

Zhuanxin has long been more than simply a place to buy groceries. Newly opened specialty coffee shops in the market use local ingredients to create jingjie cold brew (jingjie, a local aromatic herb) and Tuodong soy sauce lattes, offering a taste of Kunming in every sip. Picking up a coffee while grocery shopping has become a new routine for young people.
The market has also partnered with local subdistrict authorities to introduce Citywalk routes, allowing visitors to explore city landmarks and discover Kunming's cultural fabric while browsing and sampling local food. Cultural and creative products, light meals, stamp‑collecting activities... This old market is brimming with new vitality.

Opening hours: Approximately 6:00-19:00.
Best time to shop and eat: 8:00‑11:00, when the ingredients are at their freshest, and all the snack stalls are open. To avoid the crowds, visit after 13:00.
