Qimen, a small city nestled at the foot of Huangshan Mountain, is a hidden gem among the mountains of southern Anhui. Boasting a 88.64% forest coverage and refreshing air rich in negative oxygen ions, it serves as a natural forest therapy retreat. It is also the birthplace of Qimen(Keemun) Black Tea, one of the world's three most fragrant black teas. Its distinctive "Keemun aroma" has wafted across the globe, weaving the legendary tale of the ancient Tea Road that spread more than 13,000 kilometers.

In Shishun Village, Ruokeng Township, Qimen County, traditional dwellings and terraced fields are nestled amidst green mountains and forests, all cloaked in a mystical sea of clouds—showcasing the pristine ecological beauty of the southern Anhui countryside.
In the Mountains: A Symphony of Mist, Terraces, and Forests
Shrouded in mist, Shishun Village in Ruokeng Township blends seamlessly into the landscape of green mountains and forests, unfolding the ecological charm of southern Anhui. Deep within the mountains, streams babble gently. Green mountains reflect in clear waters, and as visitors wander through, they can fully savor the soothing embrace of the forest.
The Old Town: Discovery Begins with the Morning Market
To truly understand Qimen, one must first step into the daily rhythm of its locals. A morning visit to the old town market is highly recommended. Fresh mountain produce, local cured meat, and seasonal fruits and vegetables are displayed in abundance. Here, the calls of vendors mingle with the chatter of neighbors, filling the streets with vibrant, earthly energy.
In the afternoon, take a stroll through the ancient lanes of Dongjie Street. Bluestone paths wind ahead, flanked by scattered grey-tiled residences. The Hui-style wood carvings of the Hong Family Mansion silently narrate stories of the past—the hall carvings and plaques of the Cheng'en Hall are remarkably well-preserved, highlighting the unique charm of Huizhou architecture. Weathered over time, the mottled walls and exquisite brick-carved archways collectively record the vicissitudes of this historic region.
It is highly recommended to stay in a renovated Hui-style courtyard guesthouse, where opening the window reveals the green mountains and offers a chance to enjoy a truly slow-paced moment.

Tea Gardens: Crafting Your Own Cup of Keemun
In your spare time, visit a Keemun tea garden to immerse yourself in the intangible cultural heritage of tea-making and savor the rich flavor of this famous brew. Students can experience tea picking firsthand, gaining an intimate appreciation for the charm of Keemun tea culture. Alternatively, explore the Guniujiang Nature Reserve and Lixi Ancient Village. Take a light hike along the streams, breathe in the fresh air, beneath the dense forest canopy, and enjoying a wonderful experience far away from the city.

Lixi Ancient Village, with its white walls and grey tiles built along the stream and set against a backdrop of green mountains, paints a picture of tranquil, idyllic scenery. If you happen to catch a unique fish lantern performance, where brilliant lanterns reflect on the water's surface and fireworks illuminate the sky, you will witness yet another distinctive folk custom.

In Qimen, there are no crowded tourist traps—only the aroma of tea, the embrace of the forest, and the warmth of everyday life. Come to Qimen to heal your body and mind in the forest, and to touch the authentic Huizhou lifestyle in its ancient, rustic alleys.
