Genhe sits on the northwestern slope of the Greater Khingan Range. It is the coldest city in China and the place with the highest forest coverage in the country. Come here in autumn for a hike, and you'll be walking on a thick layer of larch needles—soft underfoot, like a carpet.

How to Choose Your Hiking Route?
The core experience at Genheyuan National Wetland Park is walking the boardwalks. There are two main routes, and the cream of the crop is the Lengji Bay Boardwalk.
The Essential Route: Lengji Bay Boardwalk
This is the scenic area's main hiking route. The boardwalk is built along the mountain and the water, threading through Dahurian larch and birch forests. The hike takes about 1.5 to 2.5 hours, with several viewing platforms along the way offering spectacular scenery.
The Extended Route: Forest Sea of Mist Ecological Boardwalk + Lengji Bay Boardwalk
If you have plenty of time, take on this route. The Sea of Mist Boardwalk is about 1.3 kilometers long. You can walk along the road from the end of the Sea of Mist Boardwalk to the end of the Lengji Bay Boardwalk, then complete the Lengji Bay Boardwalk—no backtracking the entire way, with a wider variety of scenery to enjoy.

What Else Is Worth Seeing?
Beyond the boardwalks, there are a few spots within the scenic area worth a look—you can stop by on your way, depending on your interests.
- Reindeer Enclosure: A small deer farm where you can buy moss to feed the reindeer.
- RV and Cabin Campground: The campground sits among the trees and offers accommodation—perfect for stargazing at night. Watching the stars at night is an excellent choice here.
- 517 Logging Ban Memorial Site: A historical landmark commemorating the end of commercial logging in the Greater Khingan Range.

Trip Pairing: Genheyuan National Wetland Park → Aoluguya Reindeer Tribe
If you have enough time, visit the Aoluguya Reindeer Tribe—it's only a half-hour drive away. There you can feed reindeer and walk alongside them through the forest. You can also stop by the Ewenki Reindeer Culture Museum on the way.
