Laobian dumpling has a great reputation, mainly because of its high quality ingredients, the fine workmanship that goes into making the dumplings, and the unique way in which the dumpling filling and wrapper are made. Laobian dumpling is known for its thin wrapper and generous filling, which is soft, aromatic, and delicious, and because of that, visitors to Shenyang are very eager to taste it.

In 1964, Deng Xiaoping visited Shenyang, tasted some Laobian dumplings made by a descendant of Bianfu, and remarked, "Laobian dumplings are truly unique. Keep making them."
