Chaoshou (Wonton or Dumplings)

Made of pastry wrappers and filing (mixed vegetables, meat and sugar), Chaoshou has a long history of more than 2,000 years in China. It has different names in different areas. In Northern China, it is called “wonton”, in Chongqing and Sichuan Province “Chaoshou”, in Guangdong Province “Yuntun” and in Fujian Province “Bianshi”.

Chongqing Chaoshou is large in size, and has rich-flavored soup, delicious filings, and hot and spicy flavors. Shaped as a golden ingot, Chaoshou tastes rich and smooth. Served with spicy stock and vegetables, it comes in four different flavors, namely light, slightly hot, medium hot and extra hot. Some restaurants also use home-produced pepper, giving an extra refreshing and mysterious flavor and a lingering after-taste.
