Youmotou (a kind of fried bread)

Youmotou is a famous delicacy from Zhengzhou, it looks like fried pancake, but is quite different in fact. Youmotou is also called Miantuo, Laoguatou, or Danpi Youtiao or Matang. In a word, it’s a kind of fried, leavened bread.

People in Zhengzhou have a long history of eating Youmotou. Having it with soup with pepper and chili is a typical Henan breakfast. Youmotou is crispy on the outside while soft on the inside. It can go with tofu jelly or soy milk as well. A lot of people like the great taste of it. A lot of people in Zhengzhou have it in the morning.
