Hand-Shredded Meat

This is a traditional dish eaten by hunters and nomads, such as the Mongol, Ewenki, Daur and Oroqen people living in the Hulunbuir Grasslands and means “eat meat with your hands”.

The dish can be made with lamb, cow, horse, camel as well as other domestic or wild animals, but it generally refers to hand-shredded mutton. For thousands of years, it has been the most popular and favorite traditional food of the Mongols and the eating method can be traced back to ancient China.

"Hand-Shredded Mutton” is a famous traditional dish made from lamb in Inner Mongolia. It got its name because of the large piece of mutton that must be shredded by hand.
