Yao Mountain - The Spring Temple Buddha Scenic

The Spring Temple Buddha is located at Foquan Temple, Yao Mountain, Lushan County, Pingdingshan City, Henan Province. It is the world's tallest Buddhist statue. The Buddha stands 108 meters tall from the base of the lotus pedestal (20 meters high), which in turn stands on two structures, the “Diamond Seat”(25 meters high) and the “Sumeru Seat" (55 meters high), bringing the total height of the statue to 208 meters. The Buddha's eyes are 1.9 meters high and 3.9 meters wide, and the hands are 19 meters high, 9 meters wide and 5 meters thick. The Spring Temple Buddha Scenic Spot is one of the national 5A-class tourist attractions in China. Its bronze bell is also listed in the Guinness Book of Records as "the world's largest bronze casting bell ringed from the outside". Hsing Yun, president of the Buddha's Light International Association and founder of the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist order, inscribed "The Spring Temple Buddha, Best of the World" for the statue. 

Travel Tips

Address:Shangtang Village, Zhaocun Township, Lushan County, Pingdingshan City

Transportation:Take a regular bus to Yao Mountain Scenic Area at the Maoyi Square (Trade Square) in the downtown area of Pingdingshan City and tell the driver that you are going to the Spring Temple Buddha Scenic Spot. The journey takes about 2-2.5 hours. After getting off, walk about 1 km (about 15 minutes) to the scenic spot.
