Small Wild Goose Pagoda

The Small Wild Goose Pagoda, alias Jianfu Temple Pagoda, is situated at the Jianfu Temple at Anrenfang in Chang'an City of the Tang Dynasty (now in the southern suburb of Xi’an, Shaanxi Province). Erected in the Jinglong Period (707-710) under the reign of Tang Emperor Zhongzong, the pagoda, like Big Wild Goose Pagoda, is an important edifice of the Tang Dynasty that survives to this day. It features a square shape with a brick frame and dense eaves, typical of the early period of China. Originally having 15 storeys, it now has 13 storeys, measuring 43.4 meters in height. Reputed as a valuable Buddhist architectural heritage of the Tang Dynasty, it witnessed how Buddhism was introduced to China and integrated with the Han culture.
