Mount Heng, one of China’s Five Sacred Mountains, has been well-known since ancient times. Mount Heng is famous for the magnificent natural landscapes and the profound cultural landscapes featuring the coexistence of Buddhism and Taoism. Its highest peak is Zhurong Peak which stands at an elevation of about 1,300 meters.

The Mount Heng Scenic Area is covered with lush vegetation throughout the year and exotic flowers and rare herbs emit their fragrance from a distance. Due to its beautiful natural scenery, Mount Heng is reputed as the Southern Sacred Mountain. The verdant forest is dotted with temples and monasteries, creating a strong religious atmosphere. The towering Zhurong Peak, the graceful Hall of Scriptures, the peculiar Water Curtain Cave, and the solemn Fangguang Temple are four representative attractions of Mount Heng. Here, visitors can smell flowers in the spring, admire clouds in the summer, watch sunsets in the fall, and enjoy the views of snow in the winter.
