Shijiazhuang

Shijiazhuang is Hebei's capital, formerly known as "Shimen" (stone gate). Located in south-central Hebei Province, it is a part of the Bohai Economic Rim. Being a production base of quality wheat with national certification, Shijiazhuang is recognized as the "Granary of North China".

Human civilization began early here, and that left numerous sites of cultural heritage in Shijiazhuang. The best attractions are in the suburban counties of Shijiazhuang. Zhengding Ancient Town ("Changshan" in the past), not far from the city, has many well-conserved historical sites and ancient buildings. Jingxing County to the west is among the Taihang Mountains, and enjoys excellent natural landscape, and Xibaipo to the northwest is a popular destination for red tourism.
